experimenting sensitivities and collectivities in the neoliberal city

This text reflects on our collective process in the context of the neoliberal city of London, and in relation to the work of Félix Guattari: it’s a draft in process, which we update on this site.

It is based in an older text that has been translated into spanish by Nizaiá Cassián for the forthcoming e-book ‘Felix Guattari, los ecos del pensar’ (ed. Gabriela Berti, Hakabooks).

nanopolitics: a first outline of our experiments in movements

We speak about ‘nanopolitics’ as a political engagement that is attentive to the body. In this text, we attempt to think through and make sense of our practice of nanopolitics; we pose a series of questions that emerged from the workshops we organised since 2010 and make a first foray into theorising nanopolitics as practices that are attentive to sense, feeling and perception and as a complex multidimensional proposition of the political as operating across relationality, bodies andmovement. Nanopolitics is about experimenting with ways of relating to one another through the body and senses that de-centre professionalised or personalised roles and habits. We do not understand ‘the body’ as a given or primordial foundation that delimits individuality as a container of truth, we understand the body as something we become, are and take part in. By sharing movements and sensations, we meet in ways that are often forgotten about and ways that are not yet imagined, beyond what we already think we are and know. This text is a first attempt to articulate the politics of our encounters.
